A Shocking Flop From The Blockbuster Makers

A Shocking Flop From The Blockbuster Makers

Mythri Movie Makers emerged as one of the top production houses in Telugu film industry within no time.

They had launched the banner with a prestigious film like Srimanthudu that went onto become Non-Baahubali industry hit at that time. Later they had given the biggest hit of NTR’s career with Janatha Garage.

Their third film was also with a top star. Ram Charan and Sukumar’s Rangasthalam has set new benchmark for Non-Baahubali films with a distributor share of over Rs. 120 crore.

However, they cannot always have the privilege of working with big stars and directors. MMM realized this and launched a couple of mid-range movies.

They made sure to set successful combinations though. Premam director and actor teamed up for Savyasachi and Raviteja-Srinu Vaitla for Amar Akbar Anthony.

Mythri’s first film without a big star, Savyasachi, released recently and failed to generate positive word of mouth.

The film is getting panned by critics for its lackluster script and aimless direction. Even the word of mouth from general audience is not so encouraging.

Chay is still trying to keep the film buzzing, but the day 2 collections have been underwhelming thus far. The film needs to have a strong Sunday if it has to reach the breakeven mark (Rs. 23 cr).

Trade says that the film is unlikely to be a safe venture given the talk and collections, but buyers will hope that they would get away with minimum damage.

With Savyasachi putting a dent on Mythri’s reputation, they would now need to bounce back with AAA and prove that they don’t need a big star to score a hit.
