Top 5: Guru Retains The Top Seat

1) Guru: Despite a notable release like Cheliya, last week’s release Guru continued to dominate the box office for another weekend.

The film has successfully gone past the breakeven mark by Sunday and has been declared a hit by the trade.

Venkatesh’s confidence in the subject paid off as Guru turned out to be the first hit for Tollywood this summer.

2) Cheliya: It is a surprise that Mani Ratnam’s romantic drama failed to draw the attention of urban audience too.

The film was expected to take a good opening in cities, but somehow it couldn’t get the desired start.

Even Karthi’s popularity in Telugu states didn’t ensure good opening for it. Poor word of mouth will affect the film’s prospects further.

3) Katamarayudu: Pawan Kalyan’s mass masala potboiler is heading for big flop as the film only managed nominal shares in its third weekend.

Distributors will lose anywhere between twenty to forty percent of their investment. Irony is that Katamarayudu was made for bailing out Sardaar Gabbar Singh buyers from losses and this incurred even more losses to them.

4) Rogue: Puri Jagannadh’s hopes of redeeming himself with a love story like Idiot have been shattered with Rogue turning out to be one of the biggest flops of the year.

Makers of Rogue released the movie on their own and are likely to lose major chunk of their investment. Rogue will go down as one of the biggest flops in Puri’s career.

5) Dora: Nayanthara starrer Dora is a thriller made with an interesting concept but it has missed the mark by a distance. Despite Nayan’s superstardom and crowd pulling power Dora is a big flop in Tamilnadu too.
