Varun Tej’s “Tholi Prema”, that won accolades and received great word-of-mouth, has slowed its run at the US box-office. The film’s run during week days is not that impressive.
To cross the $1million mark, “Tholi Prema” needs to perform on a strong note this weekend. The film’s first week cumulative gross would still be lower than $800k.
Varun Tej’s “Fidaa”, on the other hand, had grossed $1.35 million in its first week. Recently, Nani’s “MCA” and Akhil’s “Hello” touched the one-million-dollar mark in their second week.
“Tholi Prema” may achieve this target over this weekend, but it will be facing tough competition from Nani produced, much-hyped ensemble film “Awe” and Sundeep Kishan-starrer “Manasuku Nachcindi”.
There are not many expectations on Sundeep Kishan’s film, but “Awe” is considered to be a film targeted at the overseas audiences.
All in all, “Tholi Prema” needs a timely push to keep it in theatres longer. Despite all the good reviews and excellent word-of-mouth, it is surprising that the film is inching towards this milestone at snail's pace.
