Spyder US Rights Snapped For a Bomb

Spyder US Rights Snapped For a Bomb

Mahesh Babu is one of the biggest Tollywood stars in overseas market. He has most number of million dollar movies and holds the second highest grossing Telugu film (Srimanthudu) record in US.

Overseas Distributors always rush to snap the rights of a Mahesh Babu starrer. However, Spyder makers had to wait for a long time to find a buyer in overseas.

Distributors didn’t come forward as the producers quoted a very high price for the distribution rights. Producers quoted Rs. 21 crore at the beginning but eventually came down due to lack of buyers.

Finally, Spyder US rights were snapped by ATMOS and AZ India for Rs. 15.5 crore. This includes both Telugu and Tamil versions of the film for entire North America. Rest of the overseas rights will be sold as a separate deal.

Rs. 15.5 crore is a huge amount as no other South Indian film besides Baahubali movies has collected so much in North America.

According to current tax system in USA, Spyder should collect close to $5 Million to be a safe venture. Stakes are so high, but the buyers are trusting in Mahesh Babu’s star power.
