Puri, Charmee, Navdeep among drug consumers?

A day after the media indirectly hinting at some big names in the Tollywood figuring in the list of consumers of drugs and narcotics, names of some very popular names surfaced on Friday.

The Special Investigation Team authorities of the Excise department officially released the list of the Tollywood celebrities to whom they had served notices asking them to appear before the investigation officials between July 19 and 26 for questioning with regard to their connections with the drug mafia.

Among the names that surfaced were: popular director Puri Jagannnath, heroine Charmee, villain Subbaraju, heroes Ravi Teja, Navdeep, Tarun, Tanish and Nandu, producer Srinivasa Rao, dancer Mumaith Khan, cameraman Shyam K Naidu and art director Chinna.

The excise department, which seems to have obtained concrete evidences of how they had connections with the recently arrested drug peddlers, made it clear that they have to attend the SIT office for questioning without fail.

While some of them like Subba Raju and Navdeep admitted that they had received the notices, a couple of others like Nandu and Chinna flatly denied of receiving any notices.

Navdeep told media that his name might have figured in the list as he deals with a number of event management companies, one of which might have been involved in drug peddling.

He said he had never consumed drugs and was leading a respectable life.

Chinna said he was very much pained at the reports and said he never had the habit of even smoking, leave alone drug consumption.

Others who figured in the list are coming out one after the other to plead not guilty.
