Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who has engaged famous film director S S Rajamouli for suggesting designs for the government buildings of new capital city of Amaravati, finally did not approve the latter’s designs.
“Everybody liked the design I have prepared for the government buildings reflecting Telugu culture. But the chief minister did not okay them.
He liked the tower design for the state assembly building prepared by the UK architects and everybody endorsed it,” Rajamouli said.
“The chief minister, however, assured that he would make use of my designs for media city,” he said.
The government will keep the two designs of the Assembly building in the APCRDA website to elicit public opinion before taking the long pending decision.
Municipal administration minister P Narayana said a final call would be taken on Thursday evening.
“After the design for the Assembly and the High Court are decided the Chief Minister will make a formal announcement and within a week we will call for tenders.” Narayana said adding that the permanent structures will be completed by the end of March 2019 with the help of latest building technology.
The government however is still has to take the opinion of the Chief Justice of the High Court and Speaker of the AP Assembly for necessary changes inside the structures.
The state government has already Okayed five tower secretariat and Chief Minister’s office designed by Norman Fosters however the design is still is in the public domain for comments and suggestions.
