Mahesh Babu is one of the biggest superstars in Telugu cinema, but the star has no proper creative team, say sources. Even though his wife Namrata is excellent in handling all his brand assignments, his creative team is pretty weak.
The failure of “Aagadu”, “Brahmotsavam” and “Spyder” prove that Mahesh Babu is blindly following the directors or giving more importance to their brand name than the scripts.
He has been working with successful directors or directors who have given hits to him earlier. But sources close to him say that instead of weighing all options before signing a film, Mahesh has been blindly trusting his directors. Such decisions work at times, and they don't at times.
So it is being felt that he needs a good team which will assist him to judge if a work will work or not and if it worth taking risks.
Even Superstar Rajinikanth pointed out in an indirect manner that “Spyder” has a better-written villain's character than the hero’s. There lies the problem.
Probably he should either hire a new creative team to look after all such matters like the big Bollywood stars or assign the job to someone in his current team.
He is already working for Koratala Siva’s “Bharath Ane Nenu” and has signed Vamsy Paidiapally’s untitled romantic drama. But after these movies, he should start rethinking about selecting stories.
