Why did the makers of Allu Arjun and Mahesh Babu’s upcoming films fought tooth and nail to grab April 27 as the release date? Labor Holiday on May 1 is the reason for them to fight for that date.
May 1 is one of the best days in terms of box office returns every year. Any movie that releases on April 27 will have great advantage of cashing in on Labor Holiday.
However, as a result of the ego clash between Mahesh and Allu Arjun, both Bharat Ane Nenu and Naa Peru Surya missed out on this advantage.
As BAN and NPS moved to April 20 and May 4 respectively, Rajinikanth’s Kaala will enjoy solo release on the most wanted April 27 taking full benefit of the labor holiday in its first week.
On the other hand, the rescheduling of movies is not a great move for Allu Arjun’s film in particular. It will come two weeks after two big releases which may affect its first day collections to an extent.
Any movie that comes early during peak season will have first comer’s advantage with a solid opening.
NPS will lose some ground because of the rescheduling and will have to rely on positive word of mouth to make up for the loss in long run.
