The rights for Superstar Rajinikanth's movie "Kabali" was first bagged by Abhishek Pictures from the Tamil producer Kalaipuli S Thanu but they backed out later.
They realized that some distributors of Rajinikanth's earlier movie "Linga" are demanding money for the losses they incurred in "Lingaa". Hence Abhishek Pictures didn't want to continue as it would lead to problems at the time of release of "Kabali".
Recently, a distributor from West Godavari went to Chennai and agreed to pay the Rs 30 Cr for the Telugu rights of "Kabali" but the deal didn't materialize.
Buzz is that now Allu Aravind has come forward to support this West Godavari distributor. So Allu Aravind's Geetha Arts will be the sleeping partner for "Kabali" and they will handle all distribution in AP and Telangana states.
Geetha Arts is financing the money to this West Godavari distributor. Mostly, Geetha Arts will take over the all issues relating to this movie though it is silent partner in the movie.
"Kabali" is directed by Pa Ranjith. Rajinikanth is playing an aging gangster who turns as crusader for the people belonging to the lower strata of the society. The film is set in the backdrop of Malaysia.
