With elections to the Andhra Pradesh state assembly hardly eight months away, the cash-rich Kamma lobby has once again started working out strategies to ensure the return of Telugu Desam Party president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu to power for the second successive term.
According to reliable sources, a big group of Kamma businessmen, industrialists and media house leaders had a meeting at a prominent place belonging to a media baron on the outskirts of Hyderabad a couple of days ago to discuss the strategies on how to bring Naidu back to power for a second term.
The Kamma lobby has analysed the weak and strong areas of the TDP in Andhra Pradesh, based on an internal survey conducted by the party and also the intelligence inputs.
They reportedly discussed possible expenditure likely to be incurred by the TDP in the coming elections.
According to their assessment, the forthcoming elections are going to be the costliest elections ever held, as YSR Congress party will go all out to win the elections and the Bharatiya Janata Party would pump in huge money into the state to defeat Naidu at any cost.
“So, we shall all be prepared to spend a big money in the elections, since return of the TDP is very much essential for us to consolidate our business and commercial activities in Andhra Pradesh in general and Amaravati in particular. If the TDP loses the elections, our community cannot recover again,” they are learnt to have felt.
