Director Teja is busy finalizing the cast for his movie with Venkatesh. On the other hand, the pre-production work for NTR biopic, which he will direct, is progressing rapidly without his direct involvement.
The producers have hired a special team from Mumbai to oversee the production work and the team is finalizing locations to estimate the final budget.
Sources inform us that the producers have locked Rs 65 Cr as the final budget for the movie. This is huge by any standard for a Nandamuri Balakrishna starrer.
Balakrishna’s movies generally do business below Rs 40 Cr. Except for his 100th movie “Gautamiputra Satakarni” (which collected Rs 50+ Cr gross worldwide from theatricals and made another Rs 10 Cr from ancillary revenue), no film got Rs 40 Cr theatrical revenues. His “Legend” barely touched the Rs 40 Cr mark. His recent success “Jai Simha” collected only Rs 30 Cr.
But the producers of NTR biopic believe they can recover Rs 65 Cr budget easily given the hype around the movie. Since the film will be released during the election season, TDP cadre will queue up to watch the movie. So, they are taking such a huge risk as far as budget is concerned.
Titled “NTR”, the biopic is expected to be launched formally on March 2 in the presence of Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu, K Chandra Sekhar Rao, CM of Telangana and N Chandrababu Naidu, CM of Andhra Pradesh.
