The Bharatiya Janata Party, which has successfully got the citizenship of 40 lakh people in Assam cancelled through National Citizen Register survey on the pretext of they being illegal migrants, seems to be trying to adopt the same policy in Telangana, too.
The BJP feels a large number of Muslims from different countries had migrated to different parts of Telangana, particularly Hyderabad, through illegal means and obtained Aadhar cards and voter ID cards. If they are declared illegal migrant through a survey, they would lose their citizenship.
That is precisely why Telangana BJP party president K Laxman has demanded that the TRS government should publish a white paper on the number of citizens staying illegally in the capital city and start the process of deporting them.
He demanded that the government to publish the National Citizen Register (NCR) for Hyderabad and Telangana to identify infiltrators from the neighbouring countries and deport them.
He further pointed out that the household survey, taken up four years ago, already had all the details so it should not be difficult to make out a list.
Laxman also asked the government to be vigilant considering that Hyderabad has been the sheltered zone for several terrorists and other extremist organizations for the last three decades.
