Tanikella Bharani had planned to make "Bhakta Kannappa" with hero Sunil but the movie didn't hit the floors as producers backed off. It required more than Rs 25 Cr to make this film. Such huge amount on Sunil is not easy to recover, the producers felt.
It was then that Manchu Vishnu took over the project. He had announced that he would be producing the movie on a large scale with even bigger budget.
He planned to rope in Hollywood technicians to make this as an international film. In place of Sunil, Manchu Vishnu stepped in as hero. Budget was increased to Rs 50 Cr.
He announced this last year. Still no progress on that front as he too felt that the film wouldn’t be viable with such huge budget on him, said a source. So, along with this movie, his other ambitious mythological movie “Ravana Brahma” with his father Mohan Babu in the lead role has been put on back-burner.
Requirement of huge investment was the main reason for these movies not happening, the source added.
