Nandi Awards Inside Story: Why Pawan Got Snubbed

Andhra Pradesh Government today announced Nandi Awards for year 2012 and 2013. While "Eega" was adjudged as the Best Film for year 2012, "Mirchi" was chosen as the Best Film for year 2013.

To be fair, the jury of 2012 selected better films but the jury of 2013 got the major awards totally wrong.

Prabhas was chosen as Best Actor over more deservedly Pawan Kalyan ("Atharintiki Daaredi") and Mahesh Babu ("Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu").

A jury member exclusively informed on the condition of anonymity that the jury's choice was neither Prabhas nor Mirchi.

Majority in the Jury voted for Pawan Kalyan for "Atharintiki Daaredi". Rest gave their nod for Mahesh Babu. Then argument happened whom to select.

A senior actor who is also influential in the current ruling Telugu Desam party suggested giving to Prabhas.

He reportedly said that if it were given to Pawan Kalyan, it might not go well with the current government. If it were given to Mahesh Babu, it would also spark off speculations due to his brother-in-law being in TDP.

So, then they have decided to give to Prabhas who is considered non-controversial hero and also his family has affiliation with BJP.

Dil Raju put lot of hopes on wining Best Film for "Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu". But the jury also rejected both AD and SVSC and opted "Mirchi".
