In the film industry, the struggle lasts only until you score a hit. Once you deliver one or two successful films, you get the chance to increase your remuneration — and potentially change your life.
But there’s a catch: hiking fees doesn’t work for everyone, especially not for comedians.
When comedians abruptly increase their fees, producers hesitate to cast them. Or, to use their name for publicity, they offer smaller roles with minimal screen time and just a one- or two-day payment.
As a result, the roles don’t leave much impact, and the comedian’s popularity gradually declines. Rebuilding that image later becomes difficult.
A similar situation happened with comedian Sapthagiri. At the peak of his career, he handed over negotiations to his manager, who started quoting ₹1.5 lakh per day.
Before Sapthagiri even realized what was happening, the number of meaningful roles coming his way had dried up.
Now, buzz in the industry suggests that rising comedian Rajkumar Kasireddy may be heading down the same path.
Reports from producer circles claim he is demanding ₹1.5 to ₹2 lakh for a one-day call sheet. One producer said that even during negotiations, he refuses to drop below ₹1.5 lakh.
If the role involves several days of shooting, the total payout could exceed ₹50 lakh — leading some producers to consider other options.
At this point, it would be wise for Kasireddy to tread carefully. If these reports continue to spread, they could affect incoming offers or result in smaller roles.
