Akhanda: Mission Accomplished, Gimmicks Stopped!

The teaser of Nandamuri Balakrishna starrer “Akhanda” had garnered 50 million views in just 20 days, creating a new record in the Telugu film industry.

The teaser was released on April 12. In the next 30 days, it has added just 4 million views and there is improvement in the ‘likes’.

There were rumors that a digital company had indulged in marketing gimmicks for the views so that the movie can be sold at high rates to the satellite and OTT companies.

Incidentally, Star Maa Group had bought the film’s digital and satellite rights for Rs 15 crore, which is a new record in Balakrishna’s career.

As the makers have accomplished their mission, they have stopped buying the views for the teaser. So, the teaser is not adding any more views than the organic numbers. 

Their next target is closing the theatrical deals for fancy prices. Some of the areas have already been grabbed by the distributors. 

“Akhanda” marks director Boyapati and Balakrishna coming together for the third time. The film’s release has been postponed from May 28 owing to the pandemic.

The new release date will be announced later.
