Unlucky number 11 continues to haunt YSRCP!

Unlucky number 11 continues to haunt YSRCP!

It looks like the unlucky number “11” continues to haunt the YSR Congress party headed by former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, even in New Delhi.

On Tuesday, the YSRCP parliamentary party was allocated room no. 11 in the newly-built Parliament complex, as per the directions of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. The YSRCP has four MPs in Lok Sabha.

Based on party strength, YSRCP was initially assigned Room No. 11 on the first floor of the new Parliament building. However, party MPs soon approached Speaker Om Birla seeking a change.

During a meeting with the Speaker, YSRCP MPs reportedly expressed discomfort with the number “11,” stating that it did not augur well for them politically.

They pointed out that the party had won 11 seats in Andhra Pradesh, a figure frequently mocked by rival coalition supporters on social media.

Responding positively, the Speaker approved their request and reassigned Room No. 12 to the party.

The allocation of Room No. 11 and YSRCP MPs’ request to the Speaker to change the room has kicked up an interesting debate in the media circles, as the Telugu Desam Party-led coalition has been repeatedly pointing out the figure 11 to attack YSRCP.

Meanwhile, the TDP has been allotted Room No. 9 in the new Parliament building.

The transition follows the government’s move to shift party offices from the old Parliament building to the new complex.
