Opinion: Delhi People Repeat Their Mistake!

A man courts a girl, proposes to her, marries her and deserts her after 49 days. A year later, he comes back to her and asks her for forgiveness and one more chance. Should the girl take him back? Yes, if he is a man of character!

But what if he is a man infamous for not honoring his words time and again! Then, the girl is only in for more suffering. This is precisely what the fate of the people of Delhi is going to be for having voted Kejriwal to power a second time.

Of course, in hindsight, the choice of Kiran Bedi as rival to Kejriwal probably sealed Kejriwal’s victory. BJP should have persisted with Harsha Vardhan who had an excellent reputation in Delhi. However, Modi felt that Harsha Vardhan was of more importance to the nation than just Delhi.

And the saddest part is that the people of Delhi will have to put up with him for five years now. No need to pity them for their pain is self-inflicted.

Kejriwal along with Kiran Bedi made use of Anna Hazare to come into the limelight. Kejriwal who said that he would never enter politics started the ‘AAP’. Stating that the Congress and BJP were the two biggest evils in the country, he vowed never to seek the support of either Party to for government. But he joined forces with the Congress to form the government and ran away after 49 days.

As a chief minister, he was expected to uphold law and order in Delhi. Yet, he undertook a dharna protesting against …..who? Himself? And when BJP foolishly referred to his gotra as arachak, he promptly twisted the metaphor to play the caste card against the latter. This would have been understandable if it came from a rural politician or an illiterate. But an educated person like Kejriwal stooping down to the level of caste politics shows that he is motivated more by power than ideology.

Well, what can we do? The girl has accepted the man back into her life! She will have to pay the price now.
