NRI Woman's Suicide Followed By Husband's Death

In a disheartening incident, 29-year-old K Sahithi died by suicide hours after her husband K Manoj was cremated. Manoj, a techie working in the US died of heart attack on May 20, following which his body was brought to India and final rites were performed on Wednesday.

Upset over the loss, Sahithi died by suicide at her parental home in Amberpet in the city on Thursday.

The couple had been married for around 18 months, after which they flew to the US and resided in Dallas. On May 2, Sahithi came to the city to visit her parents at DD Colony and in-laws residing at Vanasthalipuram. Manoj stayed back in the US.

Meanwhile, Manoj died of a heart attack and his body arrived in the city on Tuesday. After the cremation on Wednesday, Sahithi’s parents brought her home.

While all the the family members were preparing to go to Vanasthalipuram for the rituals on Thursday morning, Sahithi also got ready.

However, when her sister Sanjana went out of the room leaving Sahithi alone, she locked herself in the room and killed herself.

Though the parents tried to break in and rush her to a private hospital, she could not be saved.

On a complaint from her father, Amberpet police registered a case and started an investigation. Police said no suicide note was found at the spot, but prima facie no foul play is suspected behind the suicide. Further investigation is underway, they said.
