H1-B Lottery Selection Update

H1-B Lottery Selection Update

USA: As you know that USCIS received over 236,000 H-1B petitions during the filing period, which began April 1, 2016 including petitions filed for the advanced degree exemption.

On April 9 USCIS used a computer-generated random selection process, or lottery, to select enough petitions to meet the 65,000 general-category cap and the 20,000 cap under the advanced degree exemption. USCIS will reject and return all unselected petitions with their filing fees, unless the petition is found to be a duplicate filing.

USCIS is sending receipt notices to H1B stake holders however there is no transparency on how fast these applications are being processed.

To address this gap, DesiOPT.com has conducted H1B Lottery Polls

More than 35,000 visitors have casted 6000+ cumulative votes. Applicants can review the poll results here

Thanks to 115,000+ OPT/CPT Facebook community for actively participating in H1B lottery polls.

H-1B poll results indicate 58% of applicants are still waiting to hear from USCIS. To increase the accuracy of these polls a new feature is developed to eliminate duplicate poll entries by providing unique Email-Id, which is used to update poll selection later.

Also with 90 days Unemployment rule, OPT students graduating in May are using powerful resume blast feature to reach 2500+ employers to find right H-1B sponsoring employer for next year.
