The greatandhra.com Reader’s Relief Fund has reached the deserving victims on Saturday under the able leadership and control. Utmost care was taken through out the donation activity with meticulous plan and leadership to avoid duplication and misuse. Required man power with abilities of leadership and control, was moved from Bangalore and Hyderabad to Kurnool to participate in distribution activity. It was surveyed a few days before the actual program to know the limitations being faced by the victims in Kurnool district.
Our survey reports have underlined the following:
- Rice and other food grains are being donated in big way by many donors but the people are finding it difficult to cook as they lost their houses with filthy flooded water. They have no kitchenware to cook.
- And many are getting affected with fevers, diarrhea and other pollution related diseases. The supply of medicines through proper channel also became a challenge for government bodies.
- The fishermen have lost their nets and boats (arigalu) and hence their livelihood became a question mark.
- Many donors have been donated old torn clothes which do not suffice the needs of victims.
- Hungry children are demanding for food and only a few are donating biscuits and breads to quench their hunger.
- Mosquitoes are rampant with filthy water resulting in dengue, gunya and other viral fevers. The victims have got no sufficient coils or blankets or rugs to cover their bodies from mosquito bites.
Taking the above crucial needs into consideration, ‘Greatandhra.com Readers Fund’ was allocated to purchase the required material and donate to the deserved. Although earlier we announced that food grains for one month will be donated, we have made a better plan and implemented.
The following items were donated to 2500+ victimized families:
- 3 Steel plates, 3 Glasses and Aluminium dishes for cooking- 1500sets
- New Cotton Sarees And New Dhotis – 2500 pcs
- New Rugs- 1500 pcs
- Biscuits and Breads
- Medicines
And for fishermen the following were donated to revive their livelihood
- Nets - 60 pcs
- Arigalu (round boats) – 8 pcs
While the victimized people felt happy for the needful donations, the fishermen have shed tears of gratitude for reviving their livelihood. They have joined hands together to salute the greatandhra.com readers wholeheartedly. They said,” The greatandhra.com readers are real gods at this juncture”.
Greatandhra.com team feels it a privilege to serve victims directly in person. The donations were made in Kurnool town as well as three surrounding villages. Every cent donated by Readers has reached only the victims.
The expenses related to trucks, material mobilization, delivery mechanisms, food for team, vehicles for conveyance, payments for drivers and coolies were completely borne by greatandhra.com team members only, considering that purely personal.
