'Job Hugging' Is the New Workplace Trend

'Job Hugging' Is the New Workplace Trend

A new report from global consultancy firm Korn Ferry reveals that employees are no longer racing toward fresh job offers. Instead, they’re clinging tightly to their current roles; a phenomenon now dubbed “job hugging.”

The report notes, “At an alarming rate, more and more employees are displaying what is colloquially known as ‘job hugging’ - holding onto their jobs for dear life.”

Why the shift? AI disruption, fewer openings, and an unpredictable economy have made workers wary of switching employers.

Most now plan to stay put for at least the next six months. Surprisingly, Gen Z - once seen as the most restless workforce - is leading the charge in this trend of career caution.
