DATA Celebrated Holi & Vanabhojanaalu

Dallas Area Telangana Association (DATA) celebrated 4th Annual Holi & Vanabhojanaalu at Frisco Commons Park near Dallas, TX.

More than 2000 plus people from all walks of life participated with lot of enthusiasm, some of them celebrating Holi for the first time.

The families, visiting parents, kids, young kids added color to the festival. DATA distributed spring colors to all the attendees, especially kite flying and spraying colors using water guns aka Pichkaris.

Attendees enjoyed the Holi festival and welcomed spring to their hearts. Some dabbed a line or two of red or yellow onto their forehead blue, green onto their cheeks, while others smeared colors all the way down their faces and across the shirts, truly symbolizing the spirit of the festival.

The highlight of the event was the special Flash Mob by DATA volunteers and members, choreographed by Swetha Ragi, coordinated by Padmasree Thota and overseen by cultural chair Srinivas Thippana.

The American onlookers were inquisitive of the festival and didn’t lose much time participating in the festivity. Dancing to the popular Telugu and Bollywood music, their joy was clearly visible the way they mingled in the crowds.

The weather was at its best lending hand for the people to enjoy what was considered one of the most joyful event in Dallas.

Kids were at their best playing with colors, flying kites and taking advantage of the sprawling lawn the park had to offer. DJ KRU added musical fantasy to the event and people were surely swaying to the tunes.

He also thanked DATA members and DATA sponsors for their tremendous support over the past 5 years.

DATA President-elect Mahendar Ganapuram, thanked all the attendees, DATA Secretary and event coordinator Kiran Gontuka, DATA Sponsors, DATA Executive Team, DATA Core Team, DATA Office Bearers for making the event a memorable and successful event.
