Indian all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has found himself in legal trouble over an alleged non-payment of dues amounting to ₹5 crore.
The cricketer, who was part of India’s squad for the five-match Test series against England, was ruled out of the final two Tests after sustaining a knee injury during the third match.
Upon his return to India, Reddy became embroiled in controversy as his former management agency, Square The One, filed a petition against him, accusing him of failing to clear his financial obligations.
The matter has been taken to court under Section 11(6) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, with the Delhi High Court expected to hear the case on Monday, July 28.
According to a report by India Today, Reddy had ended his four-year association with Square The One during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25 against Australia, opting for a new manager. However, the agency claims he breached their management agreement and failed to pay outstanding dues.
Square The One stated that they had managed Reddy since 2021, arranging multiple commercial deals and brand endorsements during their partnership.
A source told India Today that while most such disputes are usually resolved privately, Reddy’s refusal to pay — claiming he had secured deals on his own — led to legal action.
Meanwhile, Reddy’s absence from the Test squad has been a blow to Team India, already trailing 1-2 in the series against England.
With Arshdeep Singh and Akash Deep also ruled out, Anshul Kamboj has been brought in as a replacement for the fourth Test in Manchester, while Sai Sudharsan has replaced Karun Nair in the playing XI.
