Why Did Naidu Defer His US Trip?

Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who was supposed to go on a long trip to the United States in November, has cancelled the same.

Though his official say it was only postponed and Naidu might visit the US in February, it is unlikely to take place in the near future, say sources.

Why did Naidu cancel his US trip? According to official sources, Naidu has other engagements that were suddenly fixed during this period.

Moreover, he has to look after the preparatory arrangements for the prestigious CII Partnership Summit in Visakhapatnam from January 27 to 29. Hence, he wanted the visit to be postponed.

However, the actual reason according to sources is that the officials have told Naidu that there might not be much response to his visit in November, because it is election season in the US and there would be long holidays in the name of thanksgiving and Christmas season. So, it would be better to postpone it to February or March.

Naidu was to lead a 12-member delegation to the US from November 13 to 27 and he was to visit Los Angeles, Dallas, San Francisco, Chicago, New York and New Jersey. This would have been his first visit to the US after becoming chief minister in June 2014.
