Was it Balayya distributing cash to voters?

The photograph showing senior actor and Telugu Desam Party MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna giving Rs 100 note to one of the persons who gathered around his vehicle during the electioneering in Nandyal a couple of days ago has created ripples among the political circles.

Naturally, the opposition YSR Congress party sought to cash in on the photograph to buttress their allegation that the TDP was indulging in large scale distribution of money among voters to lure them to vote for its candidate Bhuma Brahmanand Reddy in the by-elections.

The photograph clearly shows Balakrishna giving the note to a person stretching his hands at the actor-MLA.

However, the TDP leaders have a different argument.

A section of the TDP leaders said the photograph was morphed and Balakrishna was only trying to shake hands with the people around him who stretched their hands at him. And using photoshop technique, a one hundred rupee note was arranged in the image so as to show as if he was giving away the note.

And there is also another set of Balakrishna fans who tried to defend it.

“Balayya was giving Rs 100 note to one of the party workers to have lunch with that money,” a fan defended him in the social media.

In any case, one won’t believe that Balakrishna would distribute money so openly and blatantly. No doubt, there have been reports of TDP spending money lavishly in bribing the voters, but no sane political leader does the money distribution so openly during the campaign.

And the distribution will be done by local TDP workers and not big leaders; more so, celebrities like Balakrishna, that too from an election campaign vehicle. Something fishy man!
