It was a pleasant surprise for the Telangana Congress party on Thursday, when the media gave extensive coverage to the power-point presentation made by the party leaders giving point-by-point clarification, exposing Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhara Rao's bluff on the irrigation sector.
It is an open secret that the media in Telangana has more or less surrendered to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and KCR.
Even largest circulated “Andhra” dailies like Eenadu, Sakshi and Andhra Jyothy have been praising KCR and his government more than his own mouth pieces like Namasthe Telangana and T-News.
Among the English dailies, only Times of India has been criticising, albeit mildly, some of the decisions of KCR for its own sensationalism.
Under these circumstances, it was rather surprising that the power-point presentation made by the Congress party has got wide coverage in the Telugu and English media.
The main reason for this is that there is a lot of substance in the arguments of the Congress party and if they don’t give enough coverage, they would lose their credibility.
Still, papers like Andhra Jyothy also gave prominence to the counter-attack made by the pro-KCR forces running down the Congress presentation. Very soon, we are going to witness counter arguments from KCR team!
