Interesting as it might sound, Bharatiya Janata Party activists in Maheshwaram mandal took strong exception to local Telugu Desam Party MLA Teegala Krishna Reddy joining the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
BJP leaders and workers on Wednesday took out a “Shava Yatra” (funeral procession) of an effigy of Teegala for joining the ruling TRS without resigning from his membership of Assembly. Later they burned effigy of Krishna Reddy at Kothapet junction.
The protestors organized a mammoth funeral procession of Teegala Krishna Reddy with his effigy from LB Nagar Municipal Office to Kothapet junction amidst funeral music.
Alleging that the former Mayor had decided to join the ruling party for setting up a medical college of his own, the BJP leaders said Teegala had joined the ruling party because he was afraid of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and not for Bangaru Telangana.
They also dared Teegala to quit Assembly seat and contest afresh to the Assembly.
Stating that the constituents of Maheshwaram had voted for Krishna Reddy due to the love for BJP-TDP combine, they demanded Teegala to tender unconditional apology to the people of the constituency, otherwise, they would disturb his public meetings and programs.
