Nandyal Poll To Change Political Equations?

Nandyal Poll To Change Political Equations?

Stage is set for the high-voltage by-elections on Wednesday to Nandyal assembly seat, which has fallen vacant due to the death of sitting MLA Bhuma Nagi Reddy.

Both the ruling Telugu Desam Party and opposition YSR Congress party have high stakes on the outcome of the by-election.

Political analysts say the by-election to Nandyal is not just yet another election, but it is going to change the political dynamics of Andhra Pradesh in the coming days. They predict that there is likely to be change of political equations in the state after the by-elections.

According to one section of analysis, there is going to be large scale reverse migration of the Telugu Desam Party leaders into the YSR Congress party, if the latter wins the Nandyal by-election.

A defeat of the TDP is an indicator to the downfall of the Chandrababu Naidu government and hence, it is nothing but natural for the political leaders to jump into the party which has bright future.

Secondly, there is also a likelihood of the exodus of senior Congress party leaders, whoever is left in the party at present, into the YSRC and the Congress party will more or less become extinct. Thus, there will be a direct fight between the TDP and the YSRCP in almost all the constituencies. If the YSRC picks up its momentum, the Jana Sena Party of Pawan Kalyan may not dare to come into the field with a bang.

Thirdly, the BJP is keenly watching the fight in Nandyal and if the YSRC wins the seat, there is every possibility that it will sever its ties with the TDP at the earliest and start negotiating with the YSRC for an alliance.

Fourthly, there will be a massive caste polarisation in the state and Kamma community will go all out to back the TDP to see that it does not lose power. But the other major communities like Kapus and Rajus, and of course, Reddys and Dalits, will solidly be behind the YSRC.

If the TDP wins the seat, it will be a morale booster for the party and the BJP will think twice before giving up the friendship with the former. In such a case, the YSRC will wage a lone battle.

The Pawan Kalyan factor would play a major role in deciding the fate of the two major political parties.
