KCR Pre-Empts Protest From Dalits

Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao displayed immense political maturity in sacking Tatikonda Rajaiah and replacing him with Kadiam Srihari.

Though KCR had taken the decision to sack Rajaiah on Saturday itself, he was cautioned by his Cabinet colleagues that it might trigger widespread protests from Dalits. In fact, the Dalit organisations had already warned KCR against sacking Rajaiah, alleging that the latter was being scapegoat for the mistakes committed by health department officials in dealing with the swine flu situation.

However, a stubborn leader that he is, KCR sprang a surprise on his party leaders and Cabinet colleagues by ousting Rajaiah and replacing him with Warangal MP Kadiam Srihari.

Not only that, Srihari was immediately designated as the Deputy Chief Minister. Since Srihari is also a strong Dalit leader from the same Warangal district, it would definitely silence the Dalit community and prevent them from raising any protests.

Initially, there were reports that Rajaiah might be replaced by Konda Surekha. But it would have resulted in protests from Dalits. Now that Srihari came into picture, everything would be alright.
