When Telangana movement was at its peak, it was employees under the banner of Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) who led the struggle from the front.
While the political struggle was spearheaded by Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao, it was employees who had braved the lathi blows and faced salary cuts.
After Telangana became reality, the employees were happy that they have got their own rule and hoped that KCR would acknowledge their sacrifices.
But within no time, the employees found themselves in an extremely disappointing situation as KCR, unfortunately, did not fulfill many of their promises.
The Pay Revision Commission report is yet to see the light of the day and according to latest reports, the government might put off the pay revision for at least another year. KCR had promised them health cards, but they are not being honoured in any of the private hospitals.
Now, the Secretariat employees of the Telangana government are up in arms against KCR’s decision to shift the Secretariat to Erragadda.
One does not know why KCR has come to such a decision, as it would only be foolish to shift a centrally-located office to the city outskirts. It would only help politicians make big money and would create more troubles to the staff, say union leaders.
