Why did Tamilisai reject TSPSC chairman resignation?

Telangana governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Tuesday clarified that she has not accepted the resignation of Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) chairman B Janardhan Reddy, much to the surprise of the newly formed state government headed by chief minister A Revanth Reddy.

According to Raj Bhavan sources, Tamilisai was not there when Janardhan Reddy submitted his resignation, hours after he met Revanth Reddy following a review on TSPSC malpractices. Apparently, Revanth himself asked the TSPSC chairman to quit.

Though media reports said Janardhan Reddy’s resignation was accepted, the Raj Bhavan sources said Tamilisai did not accept the same.

Instead, she is contemplating writing back to the Revanth government asking its opinion, because of the legal issues. She also sought legal opinion on the matter.

There were reports that the remaining eight other members of the commission would also step down from their posts on Tuesday, to facilitate the government constitute a new board of the commission. But only one of them, R Satyanarayana, resigned from the post.

However, Tamilisai reportedly told the government that Janardhan Reddy or the other commission members cannot escape the responsibility for the leakage of question papers for various recruitment tests conducted in the last one year by submitting their resignations.

The governor said there is no question of accepting the resignation of the TSPSC chairman or any of its members, unless the ongoing investigation into the alleged leakage of question papers for recruitment tests is completed, responsibility is fixed and action is taken against the persons involved in the leakage scam.

The governor is of the view that they cannot just get away by stepping down from their posts. They should be held responsible for all the happenings in the recruitment scam.
