TRS is a limited company, says party MLA

Telangana Rashtra Samithi legislator Rasamayi Balakishan, known for his straightforward talk, kicked up a controversy on Monday when he described his own party as a private limited company.

Speaking at a meeting in Mahabubabad, Rasamayi, who represents Manakondur assembly constituency in Karimnagar district, said he had lost his natural character by being a ruling party MLA.

“Right now, I am working in a private limited company. I am not in a position to speak anything on what is going on in the society because I am from the ruling party. As a result, I have distanced myself from many friends and acquaintances,” he said.

The MLA also warned that writers and artistes in the society should not remain silent to the goings-on in the society. “Their silence is dangerous than cancer. They have to speak up against injustice,” he said.

Rasamayi became popular with his songs and ballads on the lines of Gaddar during the Telangana movement. He staged several shows in the name of Telangana Dhoom Dham and attracted millions of people.

As a result, he was offered MLA ticket by the TRS in 2018 and he won the seat with good margin. He was also made the chairman of Telangana Sanskruthika Sarathi, an organisation that is meant for encouraging Telangana artistes.

Yet, Rasamayi appears to be very unhappy in the TRS as he has no powers. He regretted several times that he did not get any support from the party leadership and the authorities at the district level.
