TRS can retain power if polls are held now!

When Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao made a statement on Sunday that he is ready to dissolve the state assembly and go for early elections, everybody was surprised.

This led to the talk that KCR is fast losing his ground and he is afraid of losing his vote share if the elections are held as scheduled in December 2023; and hence, he is talking about early elections.

A survey conducted by popular survey agency AARAA Poll Strategies Private Limited has revealed more or less the same trend.

Releasing the survey results, AARA promoter Mastan Rao said if elections are held in Telangana immediately the TRS would come to power once again.

He said AARAA had been conducting people’s opinion once in three months in one-third of the constituencies. So, between November 2021 and July 2022, the agency had conducted survey in 119 assembly constituencies.

“If elections are held immediately, the TRS will retain power with 38.88 per cent vote share, followed by 30.48 of the Bharatiya Janata Party and 23.71 of the Congress. Other parties would get 6.91 per cent vote share,” Rao said.

The survey, however, revealed that the TRS would lose its vote share by 5 percent compared to 2018 elections, whereas the Congress, which stood second in the last elections would lose 4.72 percent votes.

The loss of these two parties would be the gain of the BJP, which will improve its vote share by 23.5 percent.

In Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts, the contest will be mainly between the TRS and the BJP.

The Congress is the biggest loser in the triangular fight – as it would go to third position in 16 seats and fourth position in 8 constituencies in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts. The outcome of the elections in five states also had a major impact on the Congress.

Only in Khammam, Nalgonda and Warangal, the Congress would be able to get higher voting percentage and more seats and would give tough fight in Medak and Mahabubnagar.

The survey said though there is a lot of enthusiasm in the Congress workers after Revanth Reddy became the PCC chief, a series of defections of the Congress MLAs into the TRS after the last elections has led to lack of confidence among the people towards the Congress.

It said the TRS has strong candidates in 87 constituencies, while the Congress has in 53 constituencies and BJP in 29 constituencies.
