Telangana Cong Still Playing Sonia Cards!

It seems the Congress party leaders in Telangana are running out of ideas to attract voters of the state and they are playing the same old tricks again and again, resulting in the failure of the party at the hustings.

Though it was Congress president Sonia Gandhi who had granted separate statehood to Telangana in 2014, but the party failed to take the message strongly into the people and win the elections.

The party played the same old sentiment – of Sonia Gandhi granting separate Telangana – in December 2018 assembly elections, but could not win over the people. By then, KCR had completely established himself as champion of Telangana.

The Sonia card failed to come to the rescue of the party in all the elections subsequently, whether it was local body elections or the by-elections to the assembly seats in Huzurnagar and Dubbak.

Yet, the Congress leaders in Telangana have not stopped playing the bhajan of Sonia time and again. On Wednesday, on the occasion of her 74th birthday, AICC spokesman Dasoju Sravan came up with a strange demand to the Telangana government.

He wrote to TRS president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to include Sonia’s life history in the state school syllabus.

"As a mark of respect and gratitude, you are requested to direct the authorities to insert Smt Sonia Gandhi's life in school syllabus,” he said.

Sravan reminded that KCR had earlier made an official statement in the state assembly saying Telangana could not have become a reality without Sonia Gandhi. However, even after six years, KCR had not shown any kind of gratitude towards her, he said.

“Although KCR is the first beneficiary of the separate state, he didn't show any interest to respect Sonia. Therefore, I request the government of Telangana to initiate the process on our request as soon as possible,” Sravan added.
