Sharmila confined to social media; what about padayatra?

At a time when the BJP and the Congress party in Telangana have been actively taking up one programme or the other against the TRS government, YSR Telangana Party president Y S Sharmila appears to be confined only to social media.

Almost every day, Sharmila has been posting comments against the K Chandrasekhar Rao government on her Twitter handle on every issue, of course, based on the newspaper reports.

The latest comment was on the ongoing fever survey being conducted by the TRS government.

She pulled up the government for not providing facilities for health workers like nurses, ANMs and other frontline workers, who have been conducting door-to-door fever survey.

“Can’t you provide them even masks and sanitisers? How can the government put the lives of frontline workers in risk?” she asked and also demanded special bonus, apart from salary to the healthcare workers.

Sharmila also targeted KCR’s son and industries minister K T Rama Rao for throwing blame on the Central ministers for not granting funds for the various textile parts in the state.

She reminded that KTR had promised jobs for 28,000 people while laying foundation for the Warangal textile park.

“You have failed to fulfil your promise. Now, you are trying to pass the buck on the Central ministers,” she criticised.

Except the social media attacks, there have been no announcements of any action plan to fight against the TRS government in the state. She has been silent on resuming her padayatra.

Earlier, she had the excuse of model code of conduct for the MLC elections under local bodies’ quota. Later, she has been showing the excuse of Covid-19. It has been a long time since she addressed even a press conference!
