Raja Singh yet to decide on political future

T Raja Singh, the firebrand legislator from the Goshamahal Assembly constituency in Hyderabad, whose resignation from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was recently accepted, is yet to decide on his future course of action.

The BJP national leadership is reportedly planning to write to the Telangana Assembly Speaker seeking Raja Singh’s disqualification, as he was elected as an MLA on the BJP ticket.

This move has come as a shock to the Goshamahal MLA, who had hoped that his resignation would not be accepted by the party and that he would retain his seat.

However, he remains hopeful that the Speaker will not take a quick decision on the disqualification, noting that similar petitions involving 10 BRS MLAs are still pending.

Meanwhile, there has been intense speculation that Raja Singh might join the Shiv Sena.

Responding to the rumours on Monday, Raja Singh clarified that he has not yet decided which party he will join.

Regarding reports that the BJP has already chosen another firebrand leader, Madhavi Latha, to contest the by-election from Goshamahal, Raja Singh said he has no objection to anyone contesting on a BJP ticket.

He added that the final decision on his MLA status rests with the BJP leadership and stated that he is willing to resign if the party asks him to.

He reiterated his commitment to fighting for Hindutva until his last breath and emphasized that he harbours no ill will against the BJP leadership.

There is also speculation that the Congress might approach Raja Singh to join the party, as it is keen to strengthen its presence in Hyderabad.

Interestingly, Raja Singh has made several positive remarks about Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in recent times.

On Monday, Raja Singh revealed that a minister from Revanth Reddy’s cabinet had spoken to him and requested his support in setting up a model cow shelter (gosala).

“Regardless of party lines, I am always ready to support efforts that protect Hindu dharma,” he said.
