Hyderabad-Bound Lufthansa Flight Diverted Over Bomb Threat

Hyderabad-Bound Lufthansa Flight Diverted Over Bomb Threat

A Hyderabad-bound Lufthansa flight made a U-turn and landed back at Frankfurt airport last evening due to a bomb threat, said sources.

The bomb threat was received about two hours after Flight LH752 took off from Germany at 2.14 pm local time on Sunday. It was scheduled to land at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport early Monday.

Lufthansa, however, claimed in a statement to news agency ANI that it was forced to turn around since it did not receive a permit to land in Hyderabad. The aircraft landed back in Frankfurt around 5:30 pm, showed the airline's live flight tracker.

A female passenger who was on her way to visit her mother in Hyderabad said that the flight had been rescheduled for Monday morning and that they were provided overnight accommodation.

"We were told that Hyderabad hasn't given permission to land the flight there. We will fly out tomorrow morning at 10 am on the same flight," she told news agency PTI.

Initial reports of the plane's U-turn had sparked concerns amid a string of plane-related incidents over the past few days. A Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner operated by Air India had crashed into a building, killing all except one of the passengers on Thursday.

The Lufthansa aircraft is a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, according to the airline's website.
