Humiliated by Wife and In-Laws, iBomma Ravi Turned to Crime

iBomma owner Immadi Ravi, recently arrested by police, is found to have collected personal data of nearly five million users and earned about Rs 20 crore through a range of illegal activities.

In a shocking twist, investigators say Ravi drifted into crime after years of humiliation from his wife and in-laws.

Ravi married outside his religion in 2016, but the relationship was troubled from the start. His wife and her parents allegedly taunted him for his low income.

At the time, Ravi worked in website development, web design and server management — jobs that did not bring in large earnings. The repeated insults reportedly pushed him to seek “any means” to make big money.

He later divorced his wife and began looking for quick routes to wealth. In the process, he acquired citizenship of St. Kitts and Nevis, a Caribbean nation.

Ravi then turned to movie piracy, making a series of bold moves that eventually entangled him in serious criminal activity.

Police apprehended him three days ago when he entered India to liquidate his assets.

Investigators discovered that Ravi had purchased plots and flats and maintained Rs 3.5 crore in his bank accounts, which have now been frozen.

Authorities also found that his website hosted nearly 21,000 pirated movies, forming the core of a massive illegal operation that has now been exposed.
