Congress Reaches Out to TRS for Support at Centre

The Congress party in Telangana has been fighting a bitter battle against the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi on several issues, particularly against chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for engineering defection of 11 of its MLAs into his party.

Strangely, the Congress party in Andhra Pradesh is desperate to seek the support of the TRS at the Centre. Andhra Pradesh Pradesh Congress Committee president N Raghuveera Reddy has written a letter to the TRS party chief seeking his support to Congress president Rahul Gandhi in forming the government at the Centre.

In the letter, Raghuveera Reddy thanked KCR for making the statement in the support of special status to AP.

He also reminded that Rahul Gandhi had also assured that if the Congress-led coalition came to power at the Centre, he would make the first signature on the file granting special status to AP.

Interestingly, the APCC chief also write letters to the Telugu Desam Party, YSR Congress Party and Jana Sena Party to set aside their political differences and support the Congress party government at the Centre.

He alleged that Narendra Modi-led NDA government had done great injustice to the state by not fulfilling the promise of special status. Reddy has urged the parties not to support BJP government.

Telangana Congress leader Gudur Narayana Reddy said Raghuveera’s letter got nothing to do with the Congress. “It's completely the APCC chief’s personal view,” he said.
