Congress Leaders Upset Over Revanth Reddy's Plan

Congress leaders in Telangana are reportedly unhappy with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s recent announcement to install a statue of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. T. Rama Rao at Ameerpet Maitrivanam.

The move, aimed at appealing to a section of voters ahead of upcoming by-elections, has sparked internal dissent within the party.

Leaders argue that while the gesture may or may not attract voters, it has certainly hurt Congress loyalists, given that NTR was a staunch rival who once dethroned the Congress government and remained its political opponent throughout his career.

A senior Congress leader from Telangana expressed disappointment, saying, “Our Chief Minister should focus on honoring leaders like Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and Chenna Reddy, who strengthened the Congress in this region. Why NTR? It sends the wrong message.”

The criticism highlights growing unease among party members over Revanth Reddy’s political strategy and its non-alignment with Congress values.

Adding to the discontent, many are questioning the silence of top Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. Their lack of response, some say, reflects weak internal discipline and moral confusion within the party.

Critics argue that endorsing or ignoring such decisions erodes the Congress’s ideological clarity and diminishes its political credibility in Telangana.
