Watch: Unruly behaviour by Komatireddy, Goud hurt

The Congress MLAs in the Telangana legislative assembly behaved in the most unruly manner in the House on the first day of the budget session by seeking to disrupt the speech of Governor E S L Narasimhan on Monday.

Former minister and Nalgonda MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy displayed the worst behaviour by throwing his headphone at the podium, causing injuries to the right eye of Chairman of Telangana state legislative council K Swamy Goud.

It is mandatory for the Governor to address the joint session of the state assembly and council on the commencement of the budget session.

While the Bharatiya Janata Party members boycotted the Governor’s address, the Congress members came well-prepared to create ruckus in the House in the name of protesting against the indifferent attitude of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi government towards farmers’ suicides.

As soon as the Governor began his speech, the Congress members stormed the podium raising slogans against the government.

However, anticipating the trouble, the government had already posted several marshals in the House and they prevented the Congress MLAs from going ahead.

Enraged at this, the Congress MLAs tore the copies of the Governor’s speech text into pieces and threw them at the podium.

In the meantime, Komatireddy tried to break the restricting marshals’ cordon and as they disallowed him, he threw his headphone at the podium.

It straightaway hit the face of the legislative council chairman, sitting beside the Governor, causing bleeding injury to his right eye.

Goud was immediately taken out of the House and after first aid in the assembly clinic, he was rushed to Sarojini Devi Memorial Eye Hospital.

The doctors, who conducted a CT scan of his face, ruled out a serious injury to his eye, but are learnt to have suggested that he be under observation for 24 hours.
