Is KCR Really Pursuing PM Ambitions?

Is KCR Really Pursuing PM Ambitions?

Is KCR dreaming of becoming the Prime Minister of India? He recently declared that he will occupy the PM's chair after the 2024 elections. Is this not a lofty ambition?

Well, one can have any level of ambition, but the means used to achieve the goal matter. Recently, he declared Kumaraswamy in the neighboring state of Telangana as his ally, but he did not even attempt to campaign for his upcoming election.

He claims that some leaders from Maharashtra are joining BRS to give the impression that the party is growing larger.

On the other hand, he claimed that the Central government dropped the idea of privatizing Vizag Steel Plant only after his agitation. However, the center declared soon after that they did not drop the idea of privatization, proving that KCR made a hasty statement and imagined something really big for himself.

It is needless to say that KCR is a master at creating and nurturing sentiment, as proven by his historical Telangana Movement. However, the credit for the formation of Telangana State cannot be completely attributed to him. The Congress Party split the state into two to form Telangana State during the reign of Sonia Gandhi, assuming that there would be political mileage for the party in the newly formed state. It is surprising to see that they did not consider that KCR would be called the Father of Telangana State and given the entire credit by the people of the state, which resulted in the Congress losing power in the state.

However, such miracles do not always happen. There is no existing sentiment against the Modi government for KCR to nurture. As long as he speaks about the inefficient rule of Narendra Modi, he will be looked at like any other routine politician. If he really wants to dethrone the BJP and sit in the PM's chair, he has to work on something highly sentimental to the people. He knows that nothing defeats sentiment in Indian Polity. BRS (formerly TRS) was built on Telangana sentiment, and the BJP is built on Hindutva sentiment.

All said and done, so far, KCR has not made any moves to position himself as the PM by 2024. His statements sound like those of a daydreamer. To create a sentiment and polarize all the anti-Modi power centers, he needs to think a lot and work hard. If time has made him the CM of a state, it does not mean that he will become the PM smoothly. He needs to make convincing moves so that people start betting on him for the ultimate chair.
