With senior Telugu Desam Party leader from Kurnool Shilpa Mohan Reddy using all his influence and seniority, besides blackmailing tactics to knock away the party ticket for Nandyal assembly by-elections, young MLA from Allagadda constituency Bhuma Akhila Priya has taken out her sentiment weapon to counter the rivals.
Akhila quietly used her clout with her erstwhile boss YSR Congress party honorary president Vijayalakshmi and sought her help to see that the opposition party does not field its candidate in the Nandyal by-elections so that it would be a unanimous election of one of the Bhuma family members.
Vijayamma reportedly gave an assurance to this effect. She said the Bhuma family had done a lot for the YSRC in Kurnool district and there was nothing wrong if the YSRC returned the favour by not fielding a candidate.
She assured that she would prevail upon her son Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. In all probability, Jagan might concede the request of Akhilya Priya. May be, she promised to return to the YSRC after the next elections.
And when Akhila brought this to the notice of TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu, he was surprised.
“If Jagan agrees for a unanimous election, there is nothing like it. Let us wait for his reaction and decide,” he said.
If it happens, it is a blow to Shilpa Mohan Reddy. Since Jagan party will support Bhuma family member, he cannot join the YSRC as he was blackmailing all these days. And if Mohan Reddy contests the elections, Jagan will definitely field his party candidate, making the contest tough!
