YSRCP campaigning against Amaravati LPS 2.0?

YSRCP campaigning against Amaravati LPS 2.0?

As the Chandrababu Naidu-led government in Andhra Pradesh begins the second phase of land pooling in villages around Amaravati for the expansion of the capital region, the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) appears to be allegedly inciting unrest among farmers against the initiative.

Over the past few days, groups reportedly affiliated with the YSRCP have launched a propaganda campaign against "Amaravati 2.0" in villages where authorities are conducting gram sabhas to seek farmers’ consent for the new round of land pooling.

One farmer from Pedaparimi village in Tullur Mandal is actively campaigning against giving land for the capital.

With a microphone tied to his bicycle, he is traveling through nearby villages, urging farmers not to surrender their land.

He claims that those who gave land during the earlier phase are now suffering due to a lack of development.

He also alleges that the residential plots promised to farmers are still untraceable and questions the benefit of surrendering land.

“Why should farmers give land when those from Undavalli, Penumaka, Errabalem, Bethapudi, and Nidamarru are still waiting?” he asks.

Furthermore, he claims the government is intentionally avoiding land pooling in Undavalli, Penumaka, and Nidamarru —areas that fall under the Mangalagiri constituency—to avoid creating trouble for MLA Nara Lokesh.

“They know land pooling in these villages will trigger massive protests. This government lacks the courage. Farmers, please think twice — giving your land could only lead to hardship,” he warns.

Officials have described this as a deliberate anti-government campaign. Police have launched an investigation into the individual behind it, reportedly taking the matter seriously due to his suspected ties with the YSRCP.

Complaints have also been filed against him for spreading misinformation about the Amaravati project, and he has reportedly been taken into custody for questioning.
