Even as the sensational Visakhapatnam land scam has brought a lot of disgrace to the Telugu Desam Party with the opposition YSR Congress party accusing even chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his son Lokesh of grabbing land in the name of their benamis, yet another instance of a TDP MLA allegedly indulging in land grabbing at Anakapalli came to light.
On Friday, two women filed a complaint with the Visakhapatnam police alleging that Telugu Desam MLA from Anakapalli Govinda Satyanarayana was harassing them and trying to grab their land.
One of the complainants who runs a small business at Pendurthi junction had taken a loan of Rs. 2 lakh from a local financier in 2015. She has now charged the financier of forging documents and trying to grab her house, apart from a plot, with the help of the MLA.
She alleged that she and her cousin were picked up by a gang owing allegiance to the MLA and beaten up severely. When contacted, police said they are investigating into the matter.
The Vizag land scam is already causing ripples in the state with allegations that about 1,000 acres of land near Madhurwada and Kommadi areas of Vizag were grabbed with alleged tampering of records.
The State Government has ordered an enquiry by a Special Investigation Team (SIT), but the Opposition YSRCP is demanding a CBI probe into the issue.
