Winds of change seem to be inevitable in the Telugu Desam Party. The Party that believes in single leadership is slowly and steadily gearing up for change in leadership. Already, steps are being taken to make way for younger leadership and Lokesh is being projected as the next boss of TDP.
Well, it was always clear that Lokesh was the heir apparent. But after bifurcation and formation of new cabinet in AP, Chandra Babu has been hinting at handing over power and Lokesh is increasingly involved in the day to day working of various ministries.
So, it is pretty obvious that the erstwhile coterie of Chandra Babu will find it difficult to work with Lokesh and vice versa, Lokesh too could find it convenient to work with a younger team. Well, whatever be the reason, it is said that the senior TDP leaders are contemplating ways of finding new roles before 2019 elections.
One such move is being contemplated by Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, say TDP insiders. Of course, he is in term now and he has four more years in office.
But it is said that he is planning to seek Rajya Sabha membership in 2018 so that he will have a term of six years in RS. Talk is that he like other senior leaders is looking for avenues other than working under Lokesh to avoid any clash of opinions at a later day.
Of course, the news is not confirmed and some doubt if he will give up his Cabinet post to go to Rajya Sabha. But with the inevitable changes that the Party is gearing up for, anything can happen says one Party insider. Well, we will keep you updated as soon as he makes a decision.
