Will Jagan spring a surprise with early polls?

The proposed meeting of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) delegates at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium at Vijayawada to be addressed by party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday has kicked up a lot of speculations in the political circles.

Jagan will interact with the party leaders and give them a direction on the party’s future plans and the strategies to face the next elections. More than 8,200 party leaders are expected to attend the meeting.

Elected representatives from mandal level to the state level have been invited for the meeting, including ministers, MLAs, MPs, MLCs, party coordinators, municipal chairpersons, market yard chairpersons, MPPs and others.

According to party sourcs, Jagan will address them on the preparedness for the elections and the programmes to be organised in the coming days.

But there is also a talk that the chief minister might spring a surprise on the party by hinting at going in for early elections in the state to take advantage of the present political situation in the state.

Sources said though the YSRCP leaders have been denying the possibility and necessity of going in for early elections in the state, a section of party leaders, speaking in private, do not rule out such a possibility.

The TDP is in a complete chaos following the arrest of their party president N Chandrababu Naidu, who may have to be in jail for another three months. His son Lokesh is also busy trying to arrange legal support for his father.

“There is a possibility that he might also be arrested in one case or the other and their entire focus is now on how to bail out the father and the son. Naidu’s family members are running from pillar to post seeking support for him,” sources said.

On the other hand, Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan is not able to dedicate his full time for politics and the party doesn’t have any strategy as of now to prepare for the polls.

He is banking purely on the TDP cadre base and wants that the TDP itself would supply the party candidates to contest the elections.

“Under these circumstances, if Jagan goes for early elections, it will leave no breathing time for the TDP and Jana Sena, who won’t be able to find time to select even their candidates. Since Naidu is in jail, he won’t be able to work out any strategies,” sources said.

Some reasoning in this argument, right!
