Will Jagan host lunch for Revanth at Tadepalli?

Newly-appointed chief minister of Telangana A Revanth Reddy, who took charge only last week, is expected to visit the temple of Goddess Kanaka Durga on Indrakeeladri Hills in Vijayawada sometime this week.

This will be the first time that Revanth, in the capacity of the chief minister of Telangana, would be visiting the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh state to pay obeisance to the goddess.

Earlier, he had visited Lord Venkateshwara Swamy temple on Tirumala hills after the completion of polling on November 30.

Naturally, Revanth’s visit to Vijayawada has led to the speculations that he might make a courtesy call to his Andhra Pradesh counterpart and YSR Congress party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy at the latter’s residence at Tadepalli, provided the latter invites him.

There have been no instances of Jagan meeting Revanth Reddy in the past and there was not even exchange of pleasantries between them. In fact, Jagan had utter contempt towards Revanth, because of the latter’s proximity with Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu.

After Revanth became the chief minister of Telangana, however, Jagan posted a courtesy tweet on X, congratulating the former for taking charge of Telangana. He didn’t even make a call to congratulate him personally.

Under these circumstances, doubts are being expressed whether Jagan would play host to Revanth Reddy when the latter visits Vijayawada later this week.

Sources said Jagan would definitely extend an official invitation to Revanth Reddy to his residence over lunch or dinner, after the latter worships at the Kanaka Durga temple. The government would have to make the necessary protocol arrangements for the same.

“Both the leaders would discuss the bilateral issues at least for the courtesy sake, though there might not be the kind of bonhomie between the two as was witnessed between Jagan and KCR,” sources said.
