Why to Pawan, why not to Kodandaram?

The massive police arrangements made for power star and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan at Kondagattu temple in Jagitial district and the police permission given to him for his “Chalore Chalore Chal” yatra in different parts of Telangana came as a big surprise to political observers.

One wonders why the Telangana Rashtra Samithi government headed by K Chandrasekhar Rao has been showing so much partisan attitude towards Pawan Kalyan and why it has not shown similar approach towards Telangana Joint Action Committee chairman Prof M Kodandaram.

In fact, the TRS government has shown virtual hell to Kodandaram, who wanted to tour different parts of Telangana in the name of Telangana Amara Veerula Yatra (Tour for Telangana martyrs).

He was arrested several times and was not allowed to enter villages.

Even in Hyderabad, Kodandaram did not get permission to hold public meetings on the city outskirts, forget about at Dharna Chowk.

He had to knock the doors of courts to get permission to organize the rally of the unemployed, but the police arrested the JAC leaders and hundreds of activists even before they reached Hyderabad.

The Osmania University students, too, were not allowed to attend the meetings of Kodandaram.

While that was the fate of the leader who fought a bitter fight for Telangana state and went to jails several times, the TRS government rolled out red carpet for Pawan Kalyan, who had opposed Telangana formation tooth and nail.

On several occasions, Pawan expressed his anguish over bifurcation and even declared that he had not taken food for one day when the state was divided.

“Yet, such anti-Telangana leader gets royal treatment in Pragathi Bhavan, dinner offers from KCR, and concessions for his films and police permissions for his yatras. It clearly shows on which side KCR is,” a Telangana activist said.
